The following are the functions of the Department of Legal Formulation Reform: –

• Drafting and formulation of all the legislation and policies required by the state in consultation with all the stakeholders concerned by the act
• Conduct research and study of the existing laws and come up with legal updates required
• Come up with legal requirements of the state research plan with all its requirements and share with DG and Minister
• Collecting and archive all the legislations and policies of Southwest State State and Federal Government of Somalia
• Developing and updating of website to be uploaded for all the legislations to facilitate that public can easily access

• Review all the legislations developed by Southwest State Institutions to ensure that they are developed in legal way, in line with the Constitution and Islamic principles.
• Submit the drafted acts by Southwest State Institutions to the council of ministries after the review and alignment
• Develop and review important policies of the state as required
• Coordinate the formulation of the policies, framework and programs to support the legal legislation and legal review in SWSS.
• Review of policies, procedures, guidelines and regulations for the legal legislation.
•  Coordination of the inter-ministerial and sectional collaboration and cooperation on legal legislation.
• Undertake research and study of the existing laws and come up with legal updates required.
• Collect and archive all the legislations and policies of Southwest State and Federal Government of Somalia.
